Heritage Calendar Tea

Published by Beckie at 4:09 PM under

Every day a holiday

Every day’s a holiday when it’s the Calendar Tea at The Heritage at St. Paul’s. On Thursday, residents and staff celebrated various events represented by the 12 months of the calendar year, including a tribute to Johnny Appleseed in September, John Wayne and the wild west in August, Thurston Classic in June, Kentucky Derby in May, the time change in November, and traditional occasions like Valentine’s Day in February, Christmas in December, St. Patrick’s Day in March, and the Fourth of July. Staff members select a month and then choose a theme from which to create table decorations, costumes, favors, and treats. A special meal is prepared by Dining Services.

Way down yonder...

Published by Beckie at 4:25 PM under Blog

The Villas staff has brought back the “Wishing Well” program. This program is designed to grant residents’ lifelong wish. One of our most recent requests was from Norma Jean Landfried, who has been a huge Alan Jackson fan all her life. Her wish was to be serenaded by the country singer himself. Well, although our staff is good, we’re not quite that good. BUT……we did find the next best thing. This afternoon, Doug Brewin who portrays Alan Jackson professionally, visited Norma... Jean and our residents for a wonderful show in Headland Friendship Commons. Doug has performed as Alan Jackson all over the country in shows such as “Legends In Concert” and “MEGASTARS of Country” in Las Vegas. Doug/Alan sang and dedicated Jackson's song, "Remember When" to Norma Jean and sang her favorite song, "Little Bitty," right near the end. Norma Jean also received an autographed photo from the real Alan Jackson (thank you, Heidi Emerick!)

Thank you to everyone who stopped by the St. Paul's booth to inquire about St. Paul's, our Without Walls services, our Philips Lifeline Medical Alert Service - and to try some of the fabulous wedding soup served through our Without Walls On-the-Go Dining program. It was wonderful seeing and talking to everyone!
